About Us
Our Names are Kristy (Wifey), Kai (Hubby) and Alegra (The Bear). We are three very happy Aussies who have put together this little part of the web to show others how great life in the country embracing the principles of Permaculture can be.
You may have gathered from this small intro that we are a little bit "Anti City". The reason for this is that through our own experiences of both City and Country living we have come to the conclusion that living in the City with it's high housing costs (as both an owner and renter) it's high crime and high cost of living in general is not the way we were all intended to spend our lives.
We spent many years living in the outer suburbs of Sydney "working to live" and although we made some great friends and had a lot of great times (especially with our Couchsurfers) we have now seen the light and that is that the open air, friendly people and mass of greenery all around is where it's at.... at least for us.
So a bit about us..... Kristy (Wifey) is a full time stay at home mum (previously an optical dispenser) and revels in the daily challenges of not only living on a small farm but raising our happy little Bear (Alegra). Days at Drayonfly Farm are currently spent in tending to the garden, playing with the "Cooks" (Alegra's name for the Chooks or Girls as we call them) and going for walks to enjoy the country side around us which is filled with amazing bush walks and some truly beautiful rainforest.
Kai (Hubby) works a normal 9-5 day job in Insurance and spends his days away from home helping people to make sure their hard earned possesions are protected from bad things happening... After work and on the weekends is a different story. At those times he loves to take care of his girls (the human ones) and work on the developing the farm under said girls direction =).
The Bear (aka Alegra)... Well she just loves everything as you can imagine. She has found her knee's and is surprisingly fast on them in between bouts of trying to walk (she's getting pretty confident with two or three steps and a stage diver into Mummies arms here and there). Other than that her favourite things are Raffy (her Stuffed Girrafe named after the character from the American TV verison of Wilfred) and roaring at anything that makes her happy including the chooks and her own drool covered reflection.
In our spare time (which is non existant) we love all the usual things a mid thirties couple and their sprog love, i.e. going to some of Australia's amazing pristine beaches, 4WDing, Camping, Surfing, Gardening (and yes dreaming big of gardens to come), Bushwalking, Scuba Diving (hubby only these days), visiting our amazing friends both close by and not so close by and reading....
Our long term plan is to develop our little piece of paradise to the point where we have both the knowledge and resources to pass on to others as a completely free resource..... we think that the whole idea of Permaculture and the Human Condition in general is to get rid of the desire to possess and embrace the desire to share without thought for personal gain. If anyone would like to help with that goal we welcome you to get in touch.... were all friendly and love making new friends.
Other than all of the above we don't really know what anyone else would care to know, but if your interested, curious or just plain nosey then get in touch and ask us...
